If
you already have company publicity material then it
may be a good idea to use this as the basis for the
site. In particular you should use the same logos,
type faces and colour schemes so that your corporate
identity is maintained.
The
most visited and successful web sites are those that
provide useful information, not only to existing
and potential customers, but also to other
people such as students, schools, hobbyists etc who
can use your site as a source of information.
The more people who visit your site, the better known
your company and products will become. Some examples
of this would be a supermarket web site that includes
recipe pages, a hotel web site that included a town
guide for tourists, a manufacturers web site that
provided some information that may be useful to school
children studying industrial processes.
It
is very important to keep the web site up to date. Always
remember to notify us of any details of product/service
changes, price changes etc. From time to time
change pictures. If possible have a monthly newsletter
or special offers page.
Please
remember that a web site can only be as good as the
content. Text should be clear and concise and photos/digital
images should be of suitable quality. Please also note
that whilst we can reduce images in size, it is rarely
possible to increase the size without an unacceptable
drop in quality.
Ideally
you will provide use with text already typed as a Word
document saved on disk or sent to us by e-mail. If you
really do not have the time to decide what you
need we can advise on text and if necessary type up
the text from you verbal description of the business
or from hand written notes or existing publicity material.
If you do not have suitable photographs we can
also visit your business to take digital photographs
for use on your web site. When we visit you we will
also want to take samples of letterheads, logos, brochures
etc so that your web site reflects your existing corporate
image.
We
will also ask you quite a lot of detail about the nature
of your business and who your target customers are.
For example are you trying to export and if so
what products and to whom? Using this information we
will write a title and company description for
use in promoting your site. Using the correct title
and description of your business is very important
in helping to promote
your site.
