Web site design & planning in Kampala, Uganda

We will help you plan your website as well as do the design work. Before we start look at some existing web sites, especially those run by businesses similar to yours. This will give you ideas and you will see the wide range of styles and layouts that can be used. Look at some websites that have been designed outside Uganda. Look at some of the web sites that Griffin Services (U) Ltd have designed and manage for Ugandan companies and organisations: - Acorns International School, All Terrain Adventures, Amalgamated Property Services, Blue Mango, Bulago Island, British Business Association Of Uganda,  Capital Pub, Hotel Brovad, Royal Ascot  Goat Races, Seyani Brothers & Co Ltd,  Uganda Holiday.

All websites must have a Home Page. This is the first page that appears on the computer monitor when somebody enters your web site The Home Page usually gives a general description of your business and will probably feature your company logo and one or more photos. In addition to your Home Page, you can choose as many additional pages as you wish. The list below gives you some ideas.

If you already have company publicity material then it may be a good idea to use this as the basis for the site. In  particular you should use the same logos, type faces and colour schemes so that your corporate identity is maintained.

The most visited and successful web sites are those that provide useful information, not only to  existing and potential  customers, but also to  other people such as students, schools, hobbyists etc who can use your site as a source of  information. The more people who visit your site, the better known your company and products will become. Some  examples of this would be a supermarket web site that includes recipe pages, a hotel web site that included a town  guide for tourists, a manufacturers web site that provided some information that may be useful to school children  studying industrial processes.

It is very important to keep the web site up to date. Always remember to notify us of any details of product/service  changes, price changes etc. From time to time change pictures. If possible have a monthly newsletter or special offers  page.

Please remember that a web site can only be as good as the content. Text should be clear and concise and  photos/digital images should be of suitable quality. Please also note that whilst we can reduce images in size, it is  rarely possible to increase the size without an unacceptable drop in quality.

Ideally you will provide use with text already typed as a Word document saved on disk or sent to us by e-mail. If you  really do not have the time to decide what you need we can advise on text and if necessary type up the text from you  verbal description of the business or from hand written notes or existing publicity material. If you do not have suitable  photographs we can also visit your business to take digital photographs for use on your web site. When we visit you we  will also want to take samples of letterheads, logos, brochures etc so that your web site reflects your existing corporate  image.

We will also ask you quite a lot of detail about the nature of your business and who your target customers are. For  example are you trying to export and if so what products and to whom? Using this information we will write a title and company  description for use in promoting your site. Using the correct title and description of your business is very  important in helping to promote your site.
